Part One of the New and final script of the Doughnut Film which will now have a new tittle " Madame Allan's usual " The is animatic has been planned out for timing if u remeber the prvious animatica it seemed to have been long, with this new one its already a minute and we have shown so much of the story levaing a 1 min 30 for the rest of the film.

TREATMENT

The atmosphere of a busy backstreet French cafe can not be beaten, especially during the lunch time rush. Every week Mrs. Allan forgets to come during the less busy period, but as her body has shrunk with age, so too has her brain. And now she struggles to remember where she is half the time. Balancing her teapot and bag of doughnuts on her tray she navigates between the suited business men and women. A sigh of relief is bestowed upon her as she locates the last empty seat.

Awkwardly there is already an old man sat at the table, he watches as Mrs. Allan struggles to mount the chair. Flustered, but still maintaining her dignity, Mrs. Allan begins to pour her tea into the cup. Meanwhile the lanky old man leans down by the side of the table where Mrs. Allan had put her bag of doughnuts and handbag before launching herself up onto the chair. To her horror the old stranger produces the bag of doughnuts and begins eating them. The open bag sits in-between Mrs. Allan and the old man. Disgusted by his despicable manners Mrs. Allan grabs the bag and places it near her. She begins to munch on one of the round sugary treats.
Excited by the taste she reaches into the bag for another doughnut. The old mans dry and wrinkly hand brushes past Mrs. Allan’s. She rapidly removes her hand from the bag. The old man becomes slightly embarrassed by the close encounter. He looks into the bag and notices there is only one doughnut left so he breaks it in half and offers one part to Mrs. Allan. She snatches it out of his hand and eats it. Repulsed by his behaviour she stands to leave. Just as she is about to go she remembers her handbag. Mrs. Allan’s anger is abruptly replaced by an enormous feeling of embarrassment as she sees that her full bag of doughnuts is still on the floor, by the side of the table.

Detailed Story of the Cafe De Beignet

A hat is seen bobbing up and down outside the ‘Cafe De Beignet’, we can see the logo of the cafe stuck to the glass. She enters the cafe and the sound of the bell is heard. She stops to see the hustle and bustle, she appears disgruntled. She walks through a clearing in the crowd towards the counter; there lies a big collection of doughnuts to choose from. Due to her height the sale assistant hands down the doughnuts and coffee to the small tiny old woman Mrs Allan. An old man who is sat by the window is drinking coffee and reading a newspaper. Every time he turns the page he notices Mrs. Allan. She is moving from table to table looking for a spare seat. On the third time he turns the page he sees a plastic tray slide onto the table. He leans over down by the side of the table and see’s the tiny Mrs. Allan. She gestures to the empty seat and the old man smiles and nods. She puts the bag of doughnuts down on the floor and begins to mount the chair.

The old man proceeds to roll his newspaper away as Mrs. Allan begins to slurp her coffee. Once the old man has rolled his newspaper up he suspiciously leans over the table once more. Mrs. Allan watches with an intrigued look. The old lady is astonished when the old man appears back from the side of the table as he produces the bag of doughnuts. Confidently the man opens up the bag and begins to eat them. Disgusted by the old mans behaviour Mrs. Allan snatches the bag and then starts to engulf one of the doughnuts.

Mrs. Allan is noticeably aroused by the taste of the sugary cake so she reaches to take another. To her shock and horror she feels another hand inside the bag of doughnuts. Startled by the discovery she rapidly removes her hand. The old man takes the bag and looks inside. He notices that there is only one doughnut left. He removes it and is about to take a bite when he notices Mrs. Allan’s angry face. He changes his mind and breaks the doughnut in half and shares it with her. Furiously she snatches it and swallows her half of the snack. She then stands up to leave and as she does she notices that her bag of doughnuts is still on the floor. She looks at the old man, he smiles.

Cut to black.

Story Outline

List of Scene

The whole story takes place inside the cafe de beginet at lunch time 12:47 to be precise.
Establish the motivations, conflict and message

Mrs Allen

The motivation for Mrs Allen entering the scene was her desire to have doughnuts and a coffee at the cafe de beignet because its her local cafe.
The motivation for her decision to sit down at the old mans table is because its the only available seat, and her short little legs are tired.
The motivation for her frustration is her over protective nature for her possessions, which is why she tries to keep the doughnuts to herself.
The motivation for Mrs Allen leaving the cafe was due to her disgust of the old mans presumptuous behaviour.
The main conflict is a misunderstanding between the old man and Mrs Allen. This resolved at the end when Mrs Allen discovers that her doughnuts were where she left them.
The message is people appear to be quick to judge others and think negatively towards strangers.

The Old Man
His motivation for letting Mrs Allen share the doughnuts was because he is generally generous.

Describe what happens before and after

Before:

The Cafe De Beignet is starting to fill up just before the lunch time rush. An old man leaves a news paper shop holding a paper. He walks down the dreary street and into the cafe. He goes to the counter and buys himself a bag of doughnuts and a coffee . There are still plenty of tables that are empty so he goes over by the window and takes a seat. He places his bag of doughnuts on the floor and begins to drink his coffee. Mean while Mrs. Allan is putting on her make-up before going out. She is just about to walk out the door when she realises she has forgotten to put in her false teeth. So she dashes back to the bathroom and swallows them into her mouth. She walks the short walk to the cafe and enters.

After:

Mrs. Allan is really embarrassed by what happens and because of her ignorance she apologises. Awkward and embarrassed she shamefully leaves the cafe and begins to walk towards the bus stop. She takes a seat at the bus stop and shortly after the old man joins her. They begin talking and sit next to each other when the bus arrives. They decide to meet at the Cafe De Beignet every week and eat doughnuts.

SYNOPSIS
Café de Beignet is the place where the high flyers of French city life mingle and meet during their lunch breaks. But it’s not the frivolous tales of the illustrious café society that are of importance. Instead, it is the accidental and awkward meeting of two older individuals who become caught up in a convoluted spiral of misunderstanding. Mrs. Allan watches the old man (Patrick) as he begins to eat her bag of doughnuts. Embarrassed by the social awkwardness Mrs. Allan does not confront the man; instead the two begin fighting over the doughnuts. It is not until Mrs. Allan scoffs the last one that she realises her bag of doughnuts are still on the floor where she had left it all along.
